Hi, my name is Brian Revels.
I’ve been a performing singer-songwriter of the Americana variety for the better part of 20 years. I’m from Rochester, NY, by way of Atlanta, GA, and I make music with my band, The Heat Lightning. And we need your help making our next record, The United States of Struggle.
These songs are inspired by my experience as an American and written to empower and commiserate with everyone out there who sees the gap between what we as a country claim to stand for and what we actually represent. There's a ton of great artists out there making their voices heard, and this is my .02, which, with inflation, is probably worth a buck or so.

Why I’m asking
for your help…
In case it isn’t clear, I’m not asking you for help because I think you have a stash of disposable income or that I somehow deserve to have my life’s work funded by others. I’m simply asking for your help because the weight one person can't lift can be catapulted by the collective action of a community.
I’m asking because, despite the ubiquity of “free” music and machine-led production methods, it is still very expensive for a human songwriter like me who makes human music elevated by the talents and efforts of other actual humans who deserve to be paid fairly for their time. There’s no AI going into this album.
I know the life-changing power of the right song at the right time. And, without your help, I can’t be sure that these songs would ever see the light of day, much less when they feel most impactful. And they deserve to. In fact, I might even be so bold as to say they are needed right now.
We start tracking on May 13th, whether or not we hit our funding goal. So, if you like being behind a winning team or supporting an underdog, here’s your chance to do both at once and get some great music out of it.
